Camping Alpes Dauphiné walks in Hautes-Alpes

Do you love nature? Enjoy hiking? Want to discover the local flora and fauna, be surprised by winding paths, admire the peaks, or take in breathtaking landscapes? Want a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life? Don’t hesitate, come to Hautes-Alpes and experience something new every day!

The Hautes-Alpes is a fantastic playground for hiking enthusiasts. This department, the highest and most authentic in the Alps, is a true hiking paradise, with over 5000 km of small hiking trails and 1800 km of long-distance routes.

Since Camping Alpes Dauphiné is close to the Écrins National Park, you have access to some of the most beautiful spots and majestic peaks, like the Olan, Sirac, and les Bans, reaching nearly 3500 metres! Hike through larch forests, over mountain meadows where herds graze, past marmots standing guard on rocks, by babbling waterfalls and carpets of rhododendrons. Admire the clarity of the mountain lakes reflecting the peaks, spot chamois (not to be confused with ibex) on distant snowfields, and see golden eagles soaring in the sky… What a spectacle! And all of this under the radiant light of the sunny Hautes-Alpes.

Free family walks with our mountain guide

Close to the campsite, in the valleys of Champsaur and Valgaudemar, we offer free hikes and walks. Twice a week, you can set off on a day hike with our mountain guide, following accessible routes suitable for both adults and children. He will guide you safely through the mountains and share stories about our mountains, their inhabitants, marmots, and chamois. To top it off, enjoy a slice of blueberry tart at the mountain refuge. Quite an experience!

Family hikes to enjoy together

Walks in the Gap Tallard Vallées area

The Gap Tallard Vallées Tourist Office has published a hiking guide with 22 routes across the region. These walks range from 1.5 to 6 hours, with varying levels of difficulty, from easy strolls to full-day treks. You can view or download the brochure.

Summer hikes using chairlifts or cable cars

To make the mountains accessible to everyone, the ski resorts of Hautes-Alpes open their ski lifts in the summer months.

Ancelle, Champsaur Valley: easily accessible, just 15 minutes from Camping Alpes Dauphiné. In the summer, the Chategre chairlift takes you to the Faudon site and Croix St. Philippe. The lift operates daily between 9:30 am and 4:30 pm to help you reach the hiking trails.

Orcières Merlette, Champsaur Valley: in summer, the Orcières Merlette 1850 resort opens its Drouvet lifts (cable car or chairlift) to provide easy access to the ‘6 lakes’ walk, including the large Lac d’Estaris. The scenery on this family-friendly hike is postcard-perfect, with its lakes and wildlife (such as marmots and ibex) sparkling under the sun of the Hautes-Alpes. A great way to recharge in the fresh air.

Réallon, Serre-Ponçon: the panoramic chairlifts of Réallon offer quick and easy access to breathtaking views over Lac de Serre-Ponçon, the Aiguilles de Chabrières peak, and the Écrins National Park. It’s also the starting point for panoramic trails and hiking routes for all levels and the whole family.
